Stair tread replacements start around $3K for a standard straight run — pulling the old treads and installing new wood matched to your floor by species, ~2 days on site. That's a ballpark to put you in range in 5–10 minutes on the first call, not a bid — and if a round-nose tread fits your home better than a pricey square-nose, we'll tell you and save you the money. We'll tell you what doesn't need doing, so you only spend where it counts.

Yes to both. We work tread by tread so the stair is functional every night — most days we install 4–6 treads with full glue cure overnight, and you walk on them carefully (we'll mark which) day-of, normally the next morning. We pull the treads only — the risers stay in place — so the demo stays contained. Haul-away of the old treads is same-day and included. Our own crew measures and installs — we don't outsource the work. A two-story house with one stair needs careful coordination, not a hotel.

Yes — we match by species, which is what makes a stair read as one with the floor: white-oak floors get white-oak treads. We deliver the treads unfinished so your finisher stains and seals them on site to the floor that's already down — that's how the color lands dead-on. If your floor's species matches what's on the stair, we can often refinish the existing treads instead. Call us with the species and we'll put a real budget number to it on the phone.

Curved runs add 1–2 days on site (typically 4–5 days total) and a small fabrication premium because each tread is templated individually. We've done curved tread replacements on volute starts, winders, and full sweeps. Send a photo of the bottom of the stair and we'll quote the curve scope on the budget window.

Always remove. Covering old treads ("tread cap" overlays) raises tread height by 1/2 to 3/4 inch — that violates code (rise consistency) and feels wrong underfoot. Snyder pulls the old treads (the risers stay), preps the substrate, and installs new wood at the original height. Worth the extra time.

Yes — better. Old treads typically have worn nosings, slight cupping, and squeaks from age. New treads are flat, square, glued + screwed to the substrate, and silent. Most homeowners say the difference is noticeable right away and they wish they'd done it earlier.
