Templated to your stringers
We template each Allentown tread individually — older West End stairs are rarely uniform — so every board sits tight with no gaps at the skirt.

Tread replacement swaps worn, carpeted, or thin stair treads for solid hardwood matched to your floor by species. We template your Allentown stair, build the treads in our Whitehall shop, deliver them unfinished, and set them in about a day on site — typically from about $3,000, with roughly four weeks of fabrication first.

When Allentown homeowners refinish or replace floors — common in the West End and South Side as 1950s–70s homes turn over — the carpeted builder stair suddenly looks wrong against the new wood. New treads matched to the floor species fix that without touching the structural stringers. Our Center Valley remodel shows the carpet-to-hardwood jump cleanly.
Tread replacement — full service detailWe template each Allentown tread individually — older West End stairs are rarely uniform — so every board sits tight with no gaps at the skirt.
Red oak, white oak, maple, or walnut, matched to your floor's species so the stair reads continuous with the room it lands in.
Treads are built and sanded at our shop, not on your stairs — no dust through the West End house. Risers stay; treads arrive unfinished.
Once treads are built (~4 weeks), on-site install is a single day for a standard flight. You're back on the stair that evening.
From about $3,000 for a standard Allentown flight · ~4 weeks fabrication before install

Faucett period restoration, Hackettstown NJ — oak treads cut and fit in our Whitehall shop. The same shop-built, matched-by-species tread work we bring to Allentown West End and South Side homes after a floor refinish.
View this projectA standard Allentown flight starts around $3,000 and rises with tread count, species, and whether risers and the skirt are included. Matching an exotic or wide-plank floor species adds material cost. That's a range to set expectations, not a quote — we confirm firm after templating your specific stair.
Yes — that's the most common reason West End and South Side homeowners call us. We match the treads to your floor's species so the stair and floor read as one. If the species matches, refinishing your existing treads can be an option; if not, new treads are the cleaner call.
Just the treads, in most cases. If your stringers and framing are sound — typical even in older Allentown stairs — we replace only the treads, leaving the risers and structure in place. That keeps cost and disruption down.
About four weeks of shop fabrication after we template, then a single day on site to set a standard flight. Treads are delivered unfinished and finished to suit, so there's no multi-day staining marathon in your home.
If your existing treads are the matching species, thick (1"+), uncupped, and not chewed up by old carpet tack strips, refinishing is the cheaper, right call and we'll tell you so. If the species doesn't match your new floor, or the treads are thin, warped, or deeply gouged, new treads are cleaner. We assess on site before you spend.
