What we replace.
We pull the carpet, set new hardwood treads on the existing stringers (the risers stay), swap the wood balusters for iron, and replace the handrail and newels. Every new piece is matched to your floors and the rest of the house.

How long does a stair remodel take?
Most remodels take 1–3 days on site once the parts are ready. An iron baluster swap is usually one day. A full foyer refresh with treads, balusters, and handrail can run a few days. The parts are cut and fit in our Whitehall, PA shop ahead of time, which keeps the work in your home short.
Do we need to vacate the house during the remodel?
No. Most of the work happens in our shop before we arrive. Once we're on site, the staircase is out of use during the workday but safe to use each evening, and we clean up before we leave. Most families stay in the home during the install.
Can you match my existing handrail or floor?
Yes. We match by species. We work in white oak, red oak, poplar, and hickory, with more available on request, so the new treads and railing look like they belong with the rest of the house. Iron balusters versus wood — what's the right call?
It depends on the home. Iron is low-maintenance and gives a cleaner, more modern look. In a traditional colonial, turned wood often fits the house better. We'll tell you what matches your home, not what's popular this year. We offer more than 10 iron styles in satin black, and you can see them in our Whitehall showroom.
Who does the work?
We're a family-owned stair and railing shop in Whitehall, PA, and have been since 1987. We measure, build the wood parts in our own shop, and install the railing. Newels, balusters, and iron come from trusted suppliers, and we coordinate everything so one shop is responsible for the project from start to finish.
