Curved stair is the hardest thing we build. We don't outsource it.
Most stair shops ship their curved work to a regional fab. We do the laminating, the assembly, and the over-the-post joinery in our own shop — sourcing the shaped handrail and volute parts and coping them to fit. Our own crew on every project.

The build process
How a curved project runs
From sketch to crated stair.
- STEP 01
Design + site measure
We come out to the site (framed or pre-framed), measure the rough opening, and propose 2–3 design directions. Sketches + budget bands in 2 weeks.
- STEP 02
Contract + CAD
Plan / elevation / section drawings delivered on contract. Structural engineer signs off, design freezes.
- STEP 03
Shop fabrication
Stringer laminated and bent on our jigs. Treads cut from select stock and bookmatched if specified. Sourced volute and handrail coped to fit, dry-fit in-shop before crating.
- STEP 04
Crated delivery
Stair components crated and labeled. Delivered to the job site in one drop. We tour the crate with your GC's foreman before leaving.
- STEP 05
Phone-consult install
Your trim crew installs over 4 days with phone consults from our shop. We're available for any joinery question. Final inspection done on a walk-through visit at install completion.

Do you install the curved stair yourselves?
No — our model is fabricate-and-deliver, your trim crew installs. Faster turnaround for you, no scheduling conflicts with our shop floor. We're on the phone for the install duration and visit on completion for the walk-through.
What's your sweet spot for curved-stair budget?
Custom curved starts around $35K–$50K for a single-flight oak curve and runs to $150K+ for full helical walnut with sculpted volutes. Pricing is by design — we quote against the actual drawing, not a price list.
Can you do circular (helical) stairs?
Yes — about 1 in 8 of our custom-build projects is a full helix. Center-supported or self-supporting are both shop-buildable. Self-supporting helixes need 16-week shop time minimum.
Will the curved stair fit through my framed opening?
Yes — we ship in two or three segments and assemble in the foyer. Largest segment fits through a standard 36" opening. We sequence the install so your finished trim isn't compromised.
