The story
The Rambo staircase was designed around a sweeping curved opening, with hickory treads and a continuous hickory handrail carrying from the first floor through the second-floor balcony.
What really sets this stair apart is the railing work. Custom sculpted fittings and finials appear throughout the system, allowing the handrail to flow through the curves, turns, and transitions as one continuous design. Against the painted balusters and white millwork, the hickory becomes the detail that ties the entire staircase together.
Curved work like this is built one connection at a time. The rail, fittings, newels, and transitions all have to meet correctly before the finished system ever reaches the home. Much of that fitting and preparation happens in our Whitehall shop before final installation on site.
Twelve weeks in the shop. Four days on site. Custom work in nearly every turn of the rail.
